Biodice á Líffræðiráðstefnunni (IceBio) 2025

The biennial Conference on Biology in Iceland (IceBio) will be held October 9 – 11 2025.

Biodice seminar on the importance of knowledge and research in the biodiversity strategy for Iceland (deCODE Fróði, on Thursday 9 October at 14:45-16:15)

Seminar will be mostly in English. Málstofan fer fram að mestu á ensku.

Moderator is Rannveig Magnúsdóttir, specialist at the Icelandic Museum of Natural History (Náttúruminjasafn Íslands). Speakers are:

Skúli Skúlason og Ole Sandberg: Biodice and the Nordic Biodiversity Framework project

Sæunn Júlía Sigurjónsdóttir: Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework status report for topics of the Ministry of Business and Industry

Cécile Chauvat: CAP-SHARE: Capacity sharing for biodiversity in the Nordic countries – international needs and opportunities to local actions

Guðrún Óskarsdóttir: Terrestrial biodiversity studies – Challenges and opportunities specific to Iceland

Christophe Pampoulie: Challenges related to marine biodiversity studies

Björn Barkarson: Presentation on the White Paper on Biodiversity and the status of the strategy, with a special emphasis on the importance of research (Guiding Principle F in the draft strategy).

Discussion on biodiversity research needs in Iceland: Moderator is Álfur Birkir Bjarnason. Participants are invited to use Mentimeter to suggest key research topics, knowledge gaps, and the role of the scientific community in implementing the strategy, among other things. Hægt verður að taka þátt bæði á íslensku og ensku.
